This STCW course is designed to meet the requirements of STCW Section B-1/12 and is based on IMO Model 1.07, point 1-5.The course provides basic training and the use of radar for all those who are in charge of the navigation watch.

 The course provides the necessary theory for understanding the operation of the radar, its display of data, limitations and precision, the recognition of critical objects, the measurement of directions and distances and the application of the same for determining the position of the ship, maintaining and drawing the movements of other ships in order to avoid collision. Exercises applied at the course are in accordance with the International Rules on Avoiding Collisions at Sea (COLERG 1972).  

Content: 

  • Meaning of radar and radar data
  • radar adjustment and operation in accordance with manufacturer's instructions
  • Determining radar distance 
  • Determine the position of the ship and avoiding collision on the sea
  • Ensure safe  navigation using radar

Duration: 3 days

Course requirements: 

  • Personal identity card or passport
  • 1 personal picture

*After successful completion of the course and exam in Port Authority, the candidates will receive the D6A- Testing and use of radar equipment issued by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia.
